clicking links has no effect
About in in every 10 links I click, the clicks aren't working. In fact, the links are being drug, instead of clicked. I think I need to file a bug on the linux version of firefox. It's difficult to use the web, when random clicks instead drag the text around.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You can also try a new profile by resetting Firefox.
I have the feeling from your response that you don't understand the problem

do you get karma points for unhelpful replies?
Yes, I'm not sure what exactly is happening.
Does that only happen on specific web pages or can you replicate that on any website?
You can try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
