SkyDrive photos & contact list not showing in FF13
I have had FF for years & have been happy with it always until FF13 which has caused problems with my use of SkyDrive to share my photos. I have used SkyDrive for a long time too & never had issues until the recent FF13 update. I can use SKYDrive without any problems if I use IE as my browser but in FF13 some photos will not show in a slideshow unless you right-click & choose view original then a separate window opens for that one photo. It is random because if you start slideshow over it may be totally different photo(s) that will not show. Other thing that started since FF updated to 13 is that when I try to 'share' the slideshow my hotmail contacts list will no longer load although it will load if I switch to IE. This is clearly a problem related to FF13 since there is no problem in IE. I prefer to use FF but need it to work for SkyDrive. Please is there a patch for this or can you tell me what to do.

Is there a public album we could view that demonstrates this problem? If so, if you could reply with a link.
Does Skydrive use any plugins for the slide show, such as Flash or Silverlight? Have you noticed any problems with that same plugin on other sites?
Does the slide show work correctly if you do a "full" reload bypassing the cache? On the page, Ctrl+Shift+r.
Regarding the Hotmail contacts list, there might be other threads here on that if it's affecting other Firefox 13 users.
As a general suggestion, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site. Save any drafts first, since this will log you out.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
It is normal to see live.com in the search box in that dialog.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
No public album.
Please note what I said: SkyDrive works perfectly if I switch to IE as the browser. It used to work perfectly in FF until the recent update. I cleared all cookies as you suggested but it still does not work properly.
Hotmail contacts list only not showing when in SkyDrive & I want to 'share' the slideshow. Hotmail contacts list used to pop up so you could fill the field In regular inbox of Hotmail the contacts list still works It is only in SkyDrive that it does not work. But it does work there if I use IE.
This is only with FF13 that this behaviour occurs not with IE & not with any previous version of FF. Therefore it is obviously a problem with FF13. Please get a patch for this as I like evrything else about FF & do not want to have to use IE.
The problem of some photos not being displayed was logged into the bug system on June 11th and is scheduled to be fixed in Firefox 15. Bug 763593 – Firefox 13 incorrectly displays photos on Skydrive (Note: please do not add comments to closed bugs, as they are cc'd to all the developers who should now be working on other things!) I'm not aware of any short term workarounds.
Hotmail contacts not appearing sounds unrelated to the photo problem. However, if you are not interested in trying various troubleshooting steps, we can wait for another SkyDrive user to chime in with their experience.
I don't know why you are saying 'if you are not interested...' since I told you that I did as you instructed & that it had not worked. Clearly if SkyDrive works in another browser & it worked in all previous versions of FF then it seems logical to say it is a problem in FF13 and your first paragraph seems to indicate that that is true. The problem with the hotmail contacts list also appeared at the same time & only happens when trying to access it in SkyDrive when using FF13 but not when using IE. Therefore logic would indicate they are part of the same issue between FF13 & SkyDrive.
There is no need for your tone. I stated in my post, ' Please get a patch for this as I like evrything else about FF & do not want to have to use IE. ' which indicates I want to solve the problem & it was a polite request.
You're right, I'm sorry, you did say you cleared the cookies. Did you also clear the cache?
If I had a SkyDrive account, I would look in Firefox's Error Console (Ctrl+Shift+j). This often will report an error when a particular feature doesn't work. To make the best use of it, you could try the following:
Start the process of sharing so you get to the page where the contact list isn't loading. Click the Clear button in the Error Console. Then reload the page and click the Error button to filter the list. When the page loads, it usually initializes script features and sets up the functionality of different controls in the page. We are looking here for indications that something is missing or not working as designed. If you don't see any errors, the next step is to click the button or link to display contacts. Then check the Error Console again for any new errors.
Do you see anything?
Another standard diagnostic is to try Firefox's Safe Mode in case one of your add-ons or custom settings might not work well in Firefox 13.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode (Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
Any difference?
Thank you. Yes I cleared both cookies & cache. I also tried disabling add-ons & using Safe Mode. Nothing worked but I read the link you sent about FF13 & problems with photos in SkyDrive & think I'd best wait for the FF15 fix unless they come up with it sooner. Everything else is working besides the SkyDrive things so I'd rather not start tinkering when we know a fix is coming. In meantime I will access it in IE or switch to another photo sharing site.
If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
- Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
- Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
- Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
- Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.
There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.
Thanks, Cor-el. I did check that as I saw this info when I was seeking a solution. Now I've decided since this is a known bug that FF is working to fix, I will wait for the fix to come out & simply use IE just for the 'sharing' part.
Did you try to set the Boolean pref image.mem.discardable to false on the about:config page?

This is way too technical for me. I have no idea what that is nor do I feel comfortable fiddling with things I don't know anything about.
Thanks for your help but as I said in my last post I will use IE for sharing SkyDrive until the FF fix comes out.
