Just updated to FF 15 and the Flash Player crashes any time I load a page with a Flash object. I'm running Flash 11.4 r402 on Windows 7 32bit. I tried safe mode and that did nothing to solve the problem. All help appreciated.

Ok it seems the best temporary solution to this problem (until they release a new version of flash) is to uninstall Adobe Flash Player and then download an old version of Adobe Flash Player (11.2 worked for me - don't use 11.3 because it has problems too).

The Shockwave and Java applications may need 'PLUGIN UPDATE' for newer versions. Suggest a check for any outdated PLUGIN UPDATE found from the Mozilla Firefox Toolbar 'Help' Menu > 'Firefox Help' > [lower right margin displays link to more info to review and 'UPDATE PLUGIN's!

Obviously the first thing I tried was updating Flash (and all my other plugins). I am using the latest version of Flash (11.4.402.265) and I am also using the latest version of Firefox (15.0).

Also, there appears to be two ongoing questions about this same problem, both of which appear to be about a day older than this question, and both of which remain unsolved.

May I suggest to the admin/mods to close this question and everyone can continue to give input on this problem at one of these two questions (I will keep my eye on them too).

OMG.... some one fix this crap already. How long are we going to have to deal with this extremely critical problem, and I'm not about to turn off flash's protected mode as a last resort. I've been reduced to using Chrome now. The horror.

I can not successfully install Adobe Flash Player 11.4 on FF 15.

With each new release of FF, I have to go through this procedure.

When I try to go back to Adobe Flash Player 11.2 I still get still get crashes on installation. I get caught in a near infinite loop of the kind of error message displayed in the attached screen shots.

Task Bar -> Close does not work. Alt+F4 does not work. I must be missing something, because the only way I can to stop the install is by killing the process, or killing the entire process tree in Task manager. Not good.

How do I leave the Beta team and get back to work?

I am becoming quite desperate, but not enough to give up on FireFox.

Try to "disable the hardware acceleration" in the Flash Player.

@FoxPhoenix: well that sounds like an entirely different problem so I would recommend that you start another question if you want you problem solved.

@cor-el: the problem with that solution is that the settings manager requires Flash to work. This bug entirely disables all use of Flash Player.

I agree! I'm not computer savvy enough to go in and start disabling protected mode, and from what I understand that's not a good idea to begin with. The situation actually improved somewhat for a few weeks prior to the latest updates of Flash Player and FF (which happened within a few days of each other)....there weren't nearly as many crashes. Now with the most recent updates, it's happening continually all over again! Since Flash Player works fine in IE, I'm inclined to think the problem is on FF's end. Surely there must be a solution without having to jump through hoops. Everything was fine until this Summer!

After spending an hour on this with one of the IT guys at work, we solved the problem by uninstalling Real Player.

Hi All, I have had this problem with Player 11.4 crashing FF15 and tried everything I could think of to no avail. his morning I read somewhere on here that it was a conflict with Rapport by Trusteer so remove rapport and reloaded Player 11.4 and now all seems just fine.

For what it is worth, may be of some help. Cheers, martin

Real Player issue was first reported as a problem in 2008. I un-installed Real Player before this issue ever came up, so I would advise, If you still have Real Player, uninstall it, but it most likely will not resolve this issue.

I worked around the problem by disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox (Tools>Options>Advanced>General).

Thank you. It was turned on in FF 15. I just switched it to off. I will see how this goes and report back tomorrow. If I can get through the whole day without a crash, this may be the answer I needed.

This worked beautifully for me. I really put this to the test by duplicating every situation that caused a crash before.

I would call your answer a solution.

Unfortunately I already have hardware acceleration disabled because of this bug.

The latest AMD video drivers cause FF 14 and 15 (and possibly earlier) to have massive memory leaks and FF will crash within minutes of use if hardware acceleration is enabled. It's possible these things are some how related.

I was too optimistic about Real Player being the cause of the problem. I'm back to continual error messages "Flash player 11.4 r402 has crashed, Windows is searching for a solution to this problem.

Try the solution offered by Tameghe. I am still crash free.

I was too optimistic. I am once again getting frequent messages that Flash player has crashed. This really is a serious problem.
