How to get rid of the absolutely HUGE Search bar that takes all the space so I only have a tiny Address bar (which is also where you search anyway)?

Huge, overlong "search bar", takes up all the room of the "address bar." I want to remove the "search bar." The "address bar" IS where I search from so the "search bar" is superfluous anyway. Very annoying.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

The location bar and the search bar have a flex property and take up all available space.

If you place the mouse pointer between the location bar and the search bar then the mouse pointer will change to a resize pointer that allows to change the width both the location and search bar by moving the mouse left or right.
