Earlier I tried to play a java based online game. I got an alert that said I needed to upgrade my plugin so I clicked on the link. I downloaded java but now my browser is on the blink. It doesn't show in my finder as open but it won't close. I tried restarting my computer and starting up in safe mode. I closed it with the red button but when I reopened it , it still doesn't show as open in the finder. (on the computer apple menu or on the force quit options, it shows to be unopened). ??? I prefer firefox over other browsers and want to keep using it.

Hanging at exit:

Most often hanging at exit is caused by Extensions, maybe plugins. Try Firefox Safe Mode; don't check any items, just click "Continue to Safe Mode". http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, disable Extensions and Plugins, one at a time or up to one half at a time, restart Firfox after each change. Narrow down until you find the problem:
