Mozilla updated automatically & deleted all my profile files including bookmarks. Is it possible to retrieve my Bookmarks?

This morning I believe Mozilla automatically updated to version 29.0.1. After the update, all my personal settings were missing. To recover the missing bookmarks I went to user/(my directory)/appdata/roaming/mozilla/firefox/profiles/07nf5zji.default. The folder held no profiles before the update that occurred this morning. In fact, all files before the update were deleted under the Mozilla directory and were either left "empty" or were replaced with files of today's date.

Hi margbond,

Thank you for your question, version 29 is a nightly version that updates frequently. They may be in another profile, but it they are no longer there and there is no back up, then no. You can refer to this knowledge base article for more information. Recover lost or missing Bookmarks

Don't you mean that you updated to the current Firefox 27.0.1 release (29.0.1 doesn't exist)?
See Help > About.
Note that Firefox 28.0 will be released later this week.

Is 07nf5zji.default the only profile folder that you see in that location?

If there are more profile folders in that location then it is possible that there has been a problem with the profiles.ini file.

Do you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop that might have your personal data?

If that is the only profile and there aren't any JSON backups (bookmarks-####-##-##_xxxx.json) in the bookmarkbackups folder then it sounds that something has gotten wrong with the mozilla/firefox/profiles/ folder.
