How do I uninstall firefox when I cannot find it in 'add/remove program'
I am trying to uninstall firefox from my window 7 notebook but I cannot find it under 'add/remove program' in control panel. I have come across suggestion to delete the Mozilla firefox folder from program x86 but I worry that this method may create problem by leaving orphans in the registry.

The uninstall instructions are here
You appear not to be posting from Firefox and so I wonder have you already uninstalled it ?
Uninstalling, gives you an option to leave behind personal information. If you will never use Firefox again you may not need that and the Firefox profile may be deleted. Possibly the profile folder is what you are seeing. Note the profile contains your Firefox bookmarks and normally if uninstalling Firefox you may wish to first of all export those as HTML that may be used elsewhere as bookmarks / favourites.
Hi John99,
The method suggested in the Mozilla support cannot be used. When you get to uninstall a program in control panel, Mozilla firefox is not there.
If Firefox is not listed as installed that is usually because it is no longer installed.. You appear to have achieved your objective already.
Do you have Firefox installed at present
- Does it open and run ok ?
- Have you still got icons or program entries to start Firefox from
What are you trying to achieve
- Will you be re installing and using Firefox again ?
- What is your intended default browser ?
Hi John99,
yes, firefox is running ok and I have icons.
Random thoughts:
- The "Uninstall a Program" dialog in Windows 7 can be sorted by different columns. In case it is not currently alphabetical, you can click the column heading to change the order.
- If the entry in the registry used by the Windows Installer is missing, you may be able to add it by re-running the Firefox installer. This page has them: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
