When I hit delete to delete a message it is very slow to delete and move to the next message.
What has changed? It worked fine 2 weeks ago and was very fast. This happens in all of the mail folders: inbox, trash, etc. I switched to Thunderbird about 3 months ago and was very happy with it. Now I'm frustrated.

McAfee Total Protection.

I have followed the instructions and will monitor this the next few days. So far, I've noticed an improvement.
For those of you using McAfee as your virus protection: I followed the link above and since have had no issues. My Thunderbird is working fast and very well. Thanks for the help "christ1".
