I want to switch from EVOLUTION 3.2.3 to Thunderbird 24.4.0 (under UBUNTU 12.04).

I succeded to migrate my contact list. I can't migrate my mails. I tried to copy the Inbox, Outbox, Sent, etc... files from ~/.local/share/evolution/mail/local_mbox to the thunderbird directory, but I only retrive a few mails...

I installed the ImporExportTools add-on ; no dice ! When I try to use the Import function of Thunderbird Tools option, I have no choice under the Import From selection...

??????? Please, help me !!!!

Hi,

Finally retired ! And now I have got time to solve this problem.

In Evoltion, I created mbox file for each local file I had. Then using the new Import option, I imported each file into Thuinderbird. Long job ... because I have numerous local files !

One problem arised : for many of my local files, I got a message from Thunderbird, saying the new file was full. So, I created a xxxfile_old.mbox for the older messages and created another xxxxfile_new.mbox for the rest (and for the new/recent ....) of the messages.

But I finally get to work with Thunderbird and its agenda !

Thanks for all your advices. Regards

Thanks for your help. But when I look at my directories, they do not look like the exemples.... (see joined image)

  • I don't have Inbox, Outbox, etc... in the evolution/..../local directory ; But I have them in the local_mbox directory. When copied to the thunderbird directory, I only find a few old mails from 2012...
  • I created local folders in EVOLUTION (Z_Archives, Z_Archives.Alain.personel, etc..) ; but there no files without extension in the #evolution.sbd directory ...

Are you using the import export tools entry... or the default unchanged import entry on the tool menu

Hi !

Sorry, too many other things to do, so I had to leave this pb on the backburner.

No succes with the standard import option from the tools menu. I installed ImporExportTools 2.8.0.4... but nothing change in the Tools menu. I thougt it improved the standard tool. From your question, I guess there is another way to activate this module ... ??

TIA Regards.
