Before you give the generic reply of "Use Sync and organize your folders from the desktop", I am aware of that (VERY cumbersome) functionality.

Is LOCAL (on-device) bookmark folder management on the horizon?

- Having to go to a desktop to put bookmarks into folders is a band-aid to badly needed functionality on-device. - It's a problem if you have bookmark sync enabled, open a page from a synced bookmark, then inadvertently touch the star icon - it will remove the bookmark from the synced folder, and you cannot re-add it until you get to a desktop (or have to add it to local device bookmarks).

I'm sorry, but bookmark management has been lacking for a while now, and seems to be a low priority. The basic code and database structure for folders has to be done already in order for you to offer it through sync, so why not finish it up and write the local GUI code? It's a drop-down folder tree added to the bookmark edit dialog and some underlying code - not a huge undertaking.

I cannot possibly stress enough how much I agree with this. It's okay to have an option to sync desktop PC to Mobile for those who want that. But it's cumbersome, impractical, and inconvenient to HAVE to log into a PC just to accomplish basic bookmark organization on your mobile device. If you add a bookmark on Mobile, you have to wait until you're on a PC to put it into a folder or even just to move it up or down. AFAIK there's no way to force a sync either, so even if you're sitting in front of the PC at the same time, you have to wait for some random period of time (15 minutes? 24 hours??) for the change to even be reflected on the PC. Then you can sort/move the bookmark. But then you have to wait for some period of time AGAIN for the change to propagate back to the Mobile device. That's utterly ridiculous.

Being able to add bookmarks to folders locally and sort them however you wanted to would be ideal. But I don't have near as many Mobile bookmarks as I do on a PC, so at this point I'd settle for the most basic browser bookmark feature in the universe - an alphabetical sort. I could disable sync and just use one folder for all Mobile bookmarks. Then If I wanted a bookmark at the top I could add an underscore to the front of it or whatever. I can't believe this basic functionality doesn't exist in FF for Android. This lack makes me miss the stock android browser (not installed on my Verizon Galaxy S5) and makes me want to try Chrome - and I HATE Chrome.

Hi again TBacker:

The development team is currently thinking about Folders for bookmarks based on your feedback (and others)

Unfortunately no schedule or fix yet. But it's progress!

Cheers! ...Roland

Yes. How Firefox has gone this long without this basic function is beyond me. Don't get me wrong, I love Firefox but have been using Next Browser instead because it has superb bookmark handling.
