When I open mozilla thunderbird, there are about two hundred tags at the top of the screen. It takes fourminutes to back space them to get to my inbox tag and see my messages. How to I clear those tags? Do they have another name?

I guess you're talking about tabs. Use the arrow at the left end of the tab bar and bring up the Inbox tab (the most left one). Right click the Inbox tab - Close other tabs. Don't open that many tabs again.
