I cannot launch Firefox. whenever I click the "Firefox" icon, I notice the "firefox.exe" is running and show in "Windows Task Manager". The memory usage of the program is not increasing, but the CPU usage is always up to 50%.

I can the the firefox.exe is running, but nothing popup, even the program has run one day. I try uninstall and reinstall firefox, the same problem happen again without any fix.

As you can see, the "firefox.exe" run at 50% CPU usage, but the memory loaded only about 5MB. It keep running and running the whole day without popup anything. It can, however, load until 100MB in a whole day time, but still keep loading.

you have such a wired svschot.exe (system) and one of the two rundll32 (system) process running, normally only one is solicited for the explorer.exe processing

-->svshot.exe is like that your host file is to big of memory, you can verify it, on c://windows/system32/drivers/etc/host.? (open up with a text editor) normally it goes among 1mb !!!!MAXIMUM!!! with a Intel core i5 processor

-->rundll32 is a process that communicate with your navigator and the host-file, my idea is that something is always reloading the process of Firefox

my purpose is that you can try to install system explorer 6, then you click right on the process and do a screen shot about all the dll file that you can see :) in the window

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Finally, I ran the updated Malwarebyte free, and deleted and corrected some file and registry, I can open Firefox now. Thanks for all the helping hand. You're very helpful.

I recalled, I have installed a malware, called PC optimizer by force on another freeware installation. This malware detect Firefox use up many system memory (I open lots of tab), and this program block Firefox by lowering the memory access priority.

After I uninstall the malware, the PC behavior is still the same.

Anyway, a big thanks for the Mozilla community.
