What is your computer system?

Download Firefox Full Installer For All languages And Systems {web link}

Open your programs folder. Are there directories listed as Firefox or Mozilla? Open them both. Do they look okay?

Where did you get the installer from?

more options

What you get from mozilla.org is an installer that you need to run. The "stub" installer connects back to the site for more files, and some security software may block this. For better luck, try the "full" installer from this page:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ (scroll down to your preferred language)

Any improvement?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5803 laptop running Vista Home Basic. I have 2 gig RAM and 32 bit OS. I have had Firefox before but removed all Mozilla files before using Chrome. I use Webroot Securanywhere ver. 8.0.5.111 security package.

Same result. After install completes I get a Firefox.exe folder on my desktop that is empty. Other files in the program folders look ok.

Will Firefox run if you start it this way:

Open the Start menu, and paste or type the following the search box, then press Enter:

firefox.exe

If that works, Firefox is properly installed, but I really couldn't explain why the desktop shortcut is broken. You can create a new one. When you find Firefox in the Start menu, right-click it and Copy. Then right-click the desktop and Paste. This should duplicate the shortcut there. Does that work?
