You seem to have two versions of the Flash plugin installed. Shockwave Flash 17.0 r0 Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0

Get rid of the older one!

First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Then download the latest Flash Plugin version from here: Select Plugin-based browsers - the EXE version. https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Run the Flash uninstaller program, then reboot your PC. Then install the Plugin version of Flash. So you'll have a clean installation of Flash for Firefox.

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash Player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:

(1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.

(2) Disable hardware acceleration in Firefox and in Flash

(A) In Firefox, un-check the box here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"

That takes effect the next time you exit and start Firefox up again.

(B) In Flash, right-click the media and choose Settings, then the first mini-tab and uncheck the box to use hardware acceleration. More information in this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues

(3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista and higher)

The protected mode feature of the Flash player plugin has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. There is a new hidden setting for this:

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(B) In the search box above the list, type or paste flash and pause while the list is filtered

(C) Double-click the dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode preference to switch its value from false to true.

This might not take effect until all Flash has been unloaded for a few minutes, or you close Firefox.

Before that preference was added, the way to disable protected mode was by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that if it turns out to be necessary (if Flash EXE processes continue to show up in the Windows Task Manager, Processes tab, even after changing the Firefox preference):

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

Any improvement?

Hi Sugram22, for Firefox, did you try the steps in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1056458#answer-715409

I don't understand your question about Google Chrome.

more options

Google Chrome comes with its own Pepper based version of the Shockwave Flash plugin that is different that the NPAPI version that Firefox uses.

isn't it dangerous to disable protection mode? like i may get infected cause of it? it is meant for security after all

also the crash once a day happens when i exit full-screen

Hi Sugram22, if protected mode is compatible with your system and doesn't cause crashes, keep it turned on. But on some systems, it makes Flash unusable.

considering i have win 8.1 the issue can be almost anything (processor i5, 4core), i heard that in win 8.1 fox itself is not ferry stable & also that there is more issues with flash to in win 8.1, about fox itself i am not sure, well it does want to leak memory, well with last update memory leak was decreased a lot, & what caused the most memory leak, do u know? it was videos, it grew with each video, new it wants to leak memory to, but after 1 or 2 videos memory gets released, it should be faster, i mean cause its slow to react shows there is still small issue with it memory leak, but its kind of under control for new cause of the memory release i mentioned, i just use the talk about memory leak as example that there are more issues with fox then just flash

i had video lags to, but only thing that fixed it is limiting cores used by flash to 1core like this http://www.tech-recipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/windows7-taskmanager3.jpg its random picture to show as example, if i disabled protection mode i had to do same thing on plugin-container.exe

according to this staff guy, win 8 is partly to blame the issues with fox & flash & flash in fox, if i understand him correctly https://forums.adobe.com/message/7397659 is there also issue with protection mode in my case, i don't know, but who know if a lot of things have issue with win8 it is possible it plays a role to, its also possible that its combination of things where this & win8 play a role + other things as well, that's just my guess, i guess i just need to test the thing with protection mode if it becomes bigger problem like starts to do that more often

also, my win vol is at 30%, but when i start to watch video online, flash or HML5 it doesn't matter my vol goes up like 10-15, but my win vol shows its still on 30% (also online video player vol bar dose not change neither, shows same vol lvl as before), but its louder like its went up to 10-15, Equalizer had no effect, video files in PC do not effect that, also when i copy URL & use VLC player to stream watch, no effect, it wont go louder, only online videos make my PC louder, increase vol, sometimes it takes a bit time before sound changes, & sometimes it happens after i pause video, when i am afk some times it goes back to like it was when started pc, when i later star to watch again it happens again

Hi Sugram22, if you have not yet tested with protected mode disabled, I think you need to try it because I am not aware of any other way to know whether it makes a difference on a particular system.

Regarding memory not being released after closing tabs that were playing a video, this has been mentioned from time to time and can be a side effect of media downloaders that may be independently intercepting the stream. However, I suggest starting a new thread specifically about this topic if you want to explore it, since this one already is marked solved.

well i kind of mentioned that with last update it got under control a bit, it does release new, but its bit slow to react sometimes, before it released to, but it was like 1 step ahead & 2 steps back in a negative way, cause videos cause memory to leak, HTNL5 & Flash both

no idea what media downloaders are, only thing i currently know that is connected with internet is Nvidia stream crevice, its running, but i am not streaming anything, no idea what other things mite similar to this, i don't know all processes, maybe win 8.1 has processes that work same way like media downloaders?

can setting compatibility mode to win 7 or older also help with flash crash? if there would be a choice between this & disabling hardware acceleration & disabling protection-mode would protection-mode be the last of the things? i mean others are better choices if they work? u can put the choices in the order u think is better, like if disabling hardware acceleration has also negative effect slightly to other thing then u put it second or 3th depending on how dad choice is disabling protection mode

I'm not aware that setting backwards compatibility to 7 or Vista or XP has any effects on plugins. You could test it if you like and let us know whether it makes any difference.

well i think it would not have any effect neither (but i will try it), cause i sometimes have small issue with 2 programs & i was suggested that, But no effect, currently i am testing disabling hardware acceleration, there was few day's without crash so i guess i need to W8 before i see results, do i need to disable it from option to? i mean fox resets it cause i haven't disabled it from options? i think maybe a week or 2 then i reply, unless something happens sooner, but in youtube hardware acceleration is necessary, with out it video quality is bad (even if i watch on HD) & so is the player, player looks ugly, is there a option where i could enable it for youtube only

Hi Sugram22, it seems a little complicated between Firefox and YouTube. Which player do you want to use and what are you getting? If you can't find settings that accomplish what you want, there probably is an add-on.

i want to know how can it change without my permission? can Mozilla team change stuff without my knowing? i mean change stuff in Fox in my PC, how can it change between Flash & HTML5 without my permission? i had that question in my post to, it has happened 2 or 3 times already, in this year

Hi Sugram22, if Firefox is using default settings, when an upgrade changes the default, your setting will also change. If you customized the setting, then the upgrade should not change it, however, if your custom setting is the new default, then on a later update, if that default changes, the setting could change.

But in this case, the bigger issue is that Google started forcing HTML5 on YouTube for Firefox, and Mozilla added a setting to block it, then Google changed its default, then it changed back, I mean, I cannot keep track of the history any more....
