although i filled in all details correct i cannot get Thunderbird working with my gmail account. with my yahoo account it worked flawless. I already use Thunderbird 38 and as well check if Imap function is enabled in gmail web account. the error message is that thunderbird canot find my account or that the username of password are not correct.

please advice what i need to fill as settings.

For gmail try changing the server settings to imap.googlemail.com and smtp.googlemail.com

Does that fix it?

Possible it has to do that here in china i need to use VPN to get the connection with web mail and Thunderbird. I already included insecure connection in G webmail but this also does not solve the problem. this weekend i will be out of chiba and will try it again without usin 

VPN.
