Can't get Firefox to move to taskbar
I right click on the firefox icon and the menu doesn't have the pin to taskbar option. I did a Firefox refresh by mistake and now I have lost all our favorites. I tried to move some from I but that won't work.

Update to the latest version of firefox. It might be caused due to an antivirus or related softwares thats causing firefox to make any changes to task bar. If so put firefox in list of exceptions and try to pin again.
Thank you for your help. This didn't do anything. I had uninstalled FF and then downloaded again but still the same. When I right click on the FF icon on the desktop the window that opens doesn't have pin to task bar on it with any icon I try. Could this be a MS issue. I tried their site and as of yet no answers.
I tried to download the latest firefox and still can't get the icon to move to the task bar.
How are you accessing Firefox right now? Where is the icon at the moment?
Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing on your screen when you try to do this?
The Firefox icon is on the desk top. I double click to open. If I try to drag it to the task bar nothing happens. When I right click for the drop down with the option pin to task bar it isn't the one that is there. The drop down is different than what use to be there. If that makes any sense to you.
I don't know how to do the screen shot, heard folks talk about it but never tried it.
I hit the Refresh Firefox button about a week ago and that is when all this started. I also lost my favorites list. at the same time. I am beginning to think I my need to take it to a shop and have it fixed but keep trying to figure it out.
Can you also see the icon in your Start menu, or under the All Programs extension of the Start menu? Also the icon would be sitting on your task bar after you open Firefox from anywhere else. What happens if you try the right-click action from any of those places.
I removed mine to test and was easily able to get the option again in the right-click menu to reinstate it. What are you seeing in the incorrect right-click menu that's popping up?
Can you also test pinning something else to your task bar to see if this function has completely failed? Shutting down and restarting a computer often fixes little glitches.
I tried another icon and it won't drag and drop. The window that opes has Open Fix Shortcuts Trouobleshot Compatibilty Scan by IObit Malwayre Fighter Powerful Uninstall Open file location Scan with MSE Share with Restore previous version Send to Cut Copy Create shortcut Delete Rename Properties
I use to have the window that had th epin to taskbar on it.
Looks like the correct menu but Pin to Task Bar is missing. Strangely though, you have an option there to Fix Shortcuts, which I'm not familiar with.
Did you actually test pinning some other program to the task bar to see if the function has completely failed?
Yes I did try a couple other icons and they won't move either. I'll give the Fix SC's a try, can't mess it up much more.
Do you know how to get the refrest Firefox option to reverse it? I watched the video several times but I can't get it to work.
I don't think refreshing Firefox is the issue, as you find the Pin to Taskbar function failing for other icons as well.
You should continue to pursue this on the Microsoft forum as it seems to be a Windows problem. Have you had a response from them yet?
Thanks for your time and information. I haven't heard from MS but will keep trying there. The only reason I mentioned the refresh issue is that after doing that this is when I started having the problem.
You may have removed button(s) from the Navigation Toolbar by accident.
If you right-click a toolbar item in normal (non-customize) mode then you can remove this item from the toolbar.
- "Remove from Toolbar" will remove this item from the Navigation Toolbar and moves it to the Customize palette ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize)
- "Move to Menu" will move this item to the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list
- "Move to Toolbar" in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list will move this item to the toolbar
Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
- "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
- check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
- if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
- if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
- if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup
I have tried to follow the instructions but still nothing happens. When I clicked refrest there wasn't any change.
I have the FF icon on the desk top. I can't drag it to the task bar and the drop window doesn't have the option "Pin to Taskbar" any more. All our book marks are gone also.
