Can't find favorite add-on
I previously used an add-on that would preview a web page when hovering over the link with my cursor on the current web page. The web page would pop up and then disappear after I removed the cursor form the popup. Can anyone tell me the name of the add-on?

Fortunately, I found out that I still have Cool Previews. I assume that it was still operable in my Firefox account. I had assumed that I would have to reload it after getting a new computer.
Perhaps Firefox should reconsider supporting it. I find it a time saver when I just want to peek at a link and not open it.
This is not about Firefox or Mozilla, but about the developer/author of the extension that has decided to stop supporting this extension and has withdrawn it from the Add-ons website and its own website. Note that the extension can stop working at any time in future Firefox versions.
This one add-on was my favorite and most indispensible. I refreshed my Firefox browser to try and solve a minor problem. I was shocked and devastated to see it was no longer there, nor available. I can't find anything else like it. I thought that something so useful would have a dozen simulators. I'm still looking.
If you did reset/refresh Firefox then your old profile folder has been moved to the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop and the extension should be in the extensions folder in the most recent profile folder.
You should be able to copy this specific extensions folder to the current profile folder.
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Could not identify in words the specific file/extension concerning the only thing I wanted which was the old CoolPreviews. All I could think to try was to copy & paste the old 'extensions' folder from Old Data folder to New profile folder and hope it was in there somewhere and would activate. CoolPreviews was still nowhere to be found in Addons after reopening new browser. Oh well. Felt like a caveman playing with cell phone and did not want to improvise and screw anything up.
You can still download this add. I too was dead in the water without my favorite add on and went all over looking for it and just wouldn't accept that it was no longer being supported. I'm aware that Mozilla doesn't recommend "unsigned" add ons, but I have used CNET's version for almost a year with no issues. Although CNET is no longer offering the download, I was able to find it on another website (as well as a couple of others). I can't speak for the safety or validity of these versions or sites so check them out or use at your own risk. If you do a google search for "firefox cool previews" they will turn up. I hope this helps many people searching for this much loved add on :-)
Today's update, to 43.0, broke CoolPreviews by permanently disabling it -- only option is to remove it.
With HoverFree also gone, there is nothing available that restores popup browsing.
This addon is a HUGE time saver. Can't believe no replacement.
EDIT: Try Interclue. With some tweaking, it may be the best option for now.
Have to get used to no style and graphic elements, but loading is much faster than CoolPreviews. Still testing...
