So, like i said, every time i open a new tab in firefox im automatically redirected to search.swagbucks.com/?f=51 and i can't get rid of it. i deleted the add on and reset my home page a million times but it still takes me there. I found someone that had a similar problem in your archives that was solved 4 years ago and I tried to follow the instructions but ran into a problem. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/826170 thats the same problem im having. The instructions that were given in that problem was: To revert to Google as your preferred search engine, please do the following.

In the location bar, type about:config and hit Enter.
In the filter at the top, type: keyword.URL
Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=

I did all that, but after i type in the keyword.URL nothing pops up on that list its just blank and i have nothing to change. Am I doing something wrong? I appreciate any help you can offer.

keyword.URL is no longer used in current releases.

The System Details list shows that you run an older Firefox 35 version that is no longer supported with security updates.

  • It is important to update Firefox and add-ons to the latest versions to get all security fixes.

Please update to the current Firefox 39.0 release.

  • Help > About Firefox

You can look at the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page and set that pref to the URL of your preferred new tab page.

  • the default new tab page with the tiles is about:newtab
  • the default home page is about:home
  • for a blank page you can use about:blank

The browser.newtabpage.enabled pref should be set to true to use the page set via browser.newtab.url as the new tab page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
