TB 38.4. I noticed when receiving messages from yahoo groups to which I subscribe in the TB message list the From column is the same for every message (the name of group - i.e. nameofgroup@yahoogroups.com) whicg is also the recipient name. As a result is it impossible to tell who posted the message. I tried the 3rd party add-on "Show Address Only" but adding the @sender column resulted in exactly the same. I tried my older version of TB 2.0.0.24 on the same profile and message folder and this correctly displays the original sender. I don't know which header field latest TB gets the From(sender) info from or what rules it applies for derivation but clearly it is not working like old TB which renders message list correctly. It looks like old TB gets From(sender) form X-Original From header field. I think new TB needs to be changed or at very minimum give user some extra choices via message list columns. This is a show stopper for me and I have had to revert to TB 2.0.0.24 so yahoo group message listss are displayed correctly.

Go to your address book and find where you saved this group. Then remove the name you saved with that group.

Your reply pointed me in the right direction to solving problem. I was not expecting address book configuration to be involved. I found this support page which clarfied mostly how TB determines what to display for Sender.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/display-name-message-list-and-message-pane

Setting the Display Name in address book causes TB to revert to sender from header. Unchecking the address book option "Always prefer display name over message header" also achieves same. I note there is also a global setting under Tools:Options: Display to force use of semder in message header. IMO it would still be an improvement to have extra options under Message List columns to show sender from header. It is more intuitive to work with folders than wondering if address book is controlling display. Thanks for speedy help.
