does restoring a profile install firefox or just profile after installing firefox?
I need to reinstall Win7 Pro. Am using Acronis 2016 for backup of files and folders including Firefox Profiles and Thunderbird Profiles.
Do I need to reinstall these programs before installing the profiles or do these profiles contain the programs too? I'm new at this.

You need to install Firefox and Thunderbird in order to use the profiles. You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (43.0.4) in all languages and all operating systems here:
Make sure to restore profiles.ini as well because otherwise the Firefox and Thunderbird profile folder won't be found.

You can download a new Firefox. But you will need to save your profile, and any other data you want to keep, before you start.
After the Windows install, put the profile folder back where they belong. Then run the Firefox installer. It should then find the profile.
