This issue is bugging me. I open up IE and drag a url to my Win7_64 desktop to create a link which opens in the URL bar just as i would expect starting HTTP or www. But when I do the same thing in FF 56 the URL bar shows a local address file:///C:/Users/myname/desktop/ followed by url description without http. When I go back and open the link I get the web page as text without graphics and all page text left justified.

It's almost as if the web url link was being replaced by a cache location? The problem is even when I can open up the page from a desktop link I can't copy and paste the real URL into a post or text document. It must be something simple which I haven't figured yet??

Does anybody have any ideas?

Some further information: When I double left click an IE link I've put on the desktop it puts the correct IE URL string in the address bar. When I do the same for a FF link I get the address starting file:///C: etc. However if I DRAG the link into FF I get the correct URL address.
