Hello,

How do i get rid of Yahoo search engine? Yahoo search engine for new tab is getting me really mad to the point where i am forced to use a different browser - I've always been a fan of Firefox and never used another. it doesn't matter what i do it keeps changing to Yahoo at next opening. Happens at job where we work in an well protected corporate intranet. I've tried without success: - setting default engine to Google - disabled any addon's - using only add-blocker and Persona's - uninstall all yahoo that i can see on my computer - scanned computer for virus, add ware, malware - registry clean - changed in about:config - if I search by yahoo "browser.newtabpage.url" and "browser.search.defaultenginename" status says "modified" but i never modified it to it and it goes to Yahoo after setting to Google - reinstalled/refreshed Firefox - tried Safe mode. - tried any suggestions/troubleshooting on Firefox forum's

Hi,

Even though Yahoo is a legitimate search engine - it sounds like you're dealing with Search.yahoo.com Redirect, malware that you will of course want to get rid of.

Go to the 3-bar menu (or 'Tools') => Addons => Extensions and look for any unfamiliar or suspicious looking extensions.

When you find any : remove them.

Do the same in your system's Control Panel.

However : most malware will be 'hiding' somewhere , so let's run malware scans, even though you've already done that - let's do it again :

Further information can be found in this article : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. They all work differently - what one program doesn't pick up, the other might.

Hopefully this will help you get rid of the nuisance  !
