After moving profile from PC1 to PC2 Thunderbird doesn't find on PC2
I am trying to relocate my Thunderbird and all its data from one PC to another. Both machines are Windows 10 latest. Thunderbird on source computer is latest. The data is large (about 8GB). I used the directions contained in this video: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer which seemed to be the correct stuff. I copied the data from source machine via right click copy per the video. It went an external USB hard drive (Plenty of space) I can see the data in the correct folder on the USB drive. I did a fresh install of Thunderbird on the target PC. I pasted the data from the external drive to the 'Thunderbird" directory per the video. The data is there, I can see it from Windows! When I start Thunderbird (and bypass creating any accounts) it starts fine but never finds the profile or the mail messages.
What went Wrong? What didn't I do wrong? What should I do?
Thanks. briank550

Hi, briank550!
If you have installed Thunderbird to PC2, then you should be able to log into Thunderbird on PC2 with the account that you used on PC1 if it was an e-mail account (e.g. yahoo.com, gmail.com, hotmail.com, ect.). I am not sure if this solution will work if you created a new account when you first used Thunderbird on PC1 and you created a calendar on it....
Thanks for your prompt reply. I still have a problem. I not sure what you mean by “Log into Thunderbird on PC2” . I have tried logging into one of my email accounts, I assume that is what you mean. When I do this I get messages that have NOT been previously downloaded but not all the email in the profile. There are 5 email accounts in the profile I transferred. Known of them showed up when I pasted the profile copy into the “Thunderbird” directory.
Any additional suggestions?
