How can I get rid of QUANTUM? AddOns don't work, style is horrible.
I can't stand the new look of Firefox. I did a search and got https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1187354 but it didn't help. There is no "advanced"; I found a similar thread that said to simply uncheck the updates and roll back. It worked, for a while, but settings didn't persist. I really hate Quantum. I'm sorry, guys, but I do. If I wanted a Chrome or Edge type browser, why would I go with Firefox, ya know?
Please, can't you a) Let Firefox stay workable with an older version or b) Give Quantum the option to use the better version (refresh on the right near the toolbar, get rid of the PageActions dots) or c) At least give another look at the instructions for getting rid of Quantum safely?
Thanks!

The answer in that thread makes little sense for a user who wants to revert to an older version of Firefox. IOW, the pre-Quantum design version which was known as Australis.
'about:preferences#advanced is for Firefox 56 and earlier. "Advanced" isn't in Firefox 57+ Quantum.
Hi, you uninstall it. The page you reference was archived for being old. If you liked the Refresh where it was you could have moved it there as well as moved all items up there any where you wanted to. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-firefox-controls-buttons-and-toolbars Or used css to customize it in 250 million ways :
- https://www.userchrome.org/what-is-userchrome-css.html
Note : userChrome was in Firefox years before Google used the name. You can ask for code here or search for code :
Google into Guthub
Could have turn off the New Tab Page if did not like it:
Security protection for things like this :
New Features and fixes for each version :
- https://www.howtogeek.com/fyi/firefox-65-will-block-cross-site-tracking/
But that's ok if you do not like it. Just uninstall it.

To create a new Reload button inside the address bar, you could try this extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/reload-in-address-bar/
To hide the Page Actions (•••) menu, you will need to use a custom style rule in a userChrome.css file. This might already be covered in an earlier reply but, if not, a rule like this should do it:
/* Remove Page Actions Menu */ #pageActionButton { display: none !important; }
If you think there might be times you want to access some commands on that menu, an alternate approach such as showing it after you hover that area might be useful.

No -- I liked "Toggle Animated GIFS". The link you posted replaces GIFS with some horrible graphic. It doesn't really meet my needs; I had already tried it and uninstalled it after less than an hour.

I'm a little scared to do anything with programming code. It's way too easy to mess things up. But I will definitely try the link you posted.
Hi, you need to read the userChrome URL's to see and learn what it is about. Is not hard, make a folder and make a file in the folder and put it in your Profile. You then just copy paste the code. If it does not work as intended or if decide you do not like it it is simply delete the code and it reverts back.
Takes about 15mins to get the whole idea, then the possibilities are endless.
See this article about changes to Options/Preferences. You can use the sidebar Firefox version selector to compare for differences (Firefox 52 versus Firefox 61)
