Work around for Secure Connection Error
I refuse to believe the Firefox cannot connect to the US Dept of Energy National Energy Technology Lab site (NETL). There must be a way to get there without getting that "Secure Connection Failed" message. It's a .gov site. https://www.netl.doe.gov/ Can someone please help me find a way around this problem? I really don't want to have to use Chrome or Explorer. Thank you!

Hi CarolynOSU, it appears that the server has a small list of allowed encryption ciphers, and none of them match up with the ciphers supported by Firefox. When Firefox tells the server its list, the server closes the connection due to no matches.
I don't know why the server doesn't have more cipher support. Considering the nature of the institution, they should be using more secure server settings (stronger ciphers). For now, you'll have to use a different browser.
If you want to compare:
- Site: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=www.netl.doe.gov (slow page)
- Browser: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html
