May be there are no new messages?
Thank you. I recently changed my email settings due to some serious issues that I cannot recall. Whatever changes I made fixed the problem of not being able to send or receive mail. So I was very happy with that. However I immediately noticed that now when I check for mail that sort of blue line or movement that I previously saw anytime Tbird was checking for mail - - no longer occurs.
If you refresh your INbox - shoudn't you see movement in that status bar? I guess status bar is not the correct word. I will attach a photo. It's that blue line that tells you that t-bird is in fact checking for mail.
For example, if I open Thunderbird cold, I see that blue line everytime. I should also see that blue line when I click on the Get Messages option. But clearly I can only check mail by closing and opening Thunderbird.
On the attached photo - - at the very bottom there is a gray line that goes across the screen. And to the right you see I have 140 messages in my IN box. I painted a blue line just to the left of the # 140 so you can see what I am referring to. I no longer see that moving blue signal when I try to check my mail.
The get messages button only applies to the "current" account. Try clicking the arrow beside it and selecting "Get all new messages".
Why would you want to manually check for messages in the first place?
