Can Thunderbird make use of the Windows certificate store for S/MIME purposes? I know its possible for FireFox using "security.enterprise_roots.enabled" But can a similar configuration be applied to Thunderbird?

I've deployed S/MIME certificates throughout my company in the Windows Certificate Store, which by default doesnt seem to be usable for Thunderbird, and would prefer using Thunderbird over Outlook provided S/MIME can work using the certificates and keys deployed to the Windows Certificate store.

Thanks

I've consulted our security expert and he says no. If you want more detail I can post what he wrote - but it's not possible to work.

@Wayne Mery thanks for confirming, bummer that its not possible.

I would love to get some more insights why it is not possible for Thunderbird, where-as it is possible for FireFox. If you could share the detailed feedback, it would be very appreciated

Thanks
