Firefox doesn't save my session
Hi,
Firefox doesn't save my session when I exit the browser, I tried everything and still doesn't save my tabs when I close the browser. I refreshed the browser, "Restore previous session" is selected, I also checked for "firefox remembers history" and nothing works, what can I do?
Thanks

I was using "Firefox will remember history".
So I uninstalled mozilla, after that I disk clean-up for the system drive and I restarted the PC. I installed the browser again and now is working! Hallelujah!
Thank you all for the help

hi dr... save a Firefox session, If you are using Mozilla Firefox, do the following to save all
open tabs: Right-click on any tab
that is open in the browser and
select "bookmark all tabs" from the
context menu. If you prefer the keyboard,
use Ctrl-Shift-d instead

Yes, i use the latest version of mozilla firefox.
I tried your solutin but it's not working, maybe you misunderstood, not the bookmarks is the problem. If I have 5 tabs open and I exit the browser, when I open mozilla again it won't restore my tabs. I don't know why is not working, It's frustating
I also tried the solutions from the link you attached. The only thing I don't get it is this part "Does Firefox update the recover files in the sessionstore-backups folder and create a sessionstore.js file when you close Firefox?"

-- let's start here: Firefox should update the recovery.jsonlz4 file in your profile in the sessionstore-backups folder as you browse, as often as every 15 seconds.
If you open your profile folder and watch the modified date/time on the file, can you see it updating during your session? You can open your profile folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, click the "Open Folder" button.
Then double-click into the sessionstore-backups folder.
The files you may find here are:
- recovery.jsonlz4: the windows and tabs in your currently live Firefox session (or, if Firefox crashed at the last shutdown and is still closed, your last session)
- recovery.baklz4: a backup copy of recovery.jsonlz4 (lags about 15 seconds)
- previous.jsonlz4: the windows and tabs in your last Firefox session
- upgrade.jsonlz4-build_id: the windows and tabs in the Firefox session that was live at the time of your last update
Is Firefox updating the two recovery.x files as you browse?
Hi, jscher2000,
I opened the profile folder and I didn't find any of the files you said, I attached a screenshot with the contents of Profile folder. What should I do?
Thank you
Hi Alex, if you switch the view to the one that shows modification dates/times, can you confirm this is your current profile? For example, the places.sqlite file stores history, so it should have a very recent modification date/time.
If that is your live profile, the absence of a sessionstore-backups folder is a huge problem. Firefox isn't saving any session history data. Since you recently used Refresh, there shouldn't be any settings causing it. I'm really not sure what could be causing it.
As a temporary workaround, you could consider using a session management extension (add-on). These are the ones I'm aware of that you might investigate/try out:
Use database storage:
- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/session-boss/
Use bookmark storage:
- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/my-sessions/
Bookmark storage is more robust in that Firefox backs it up regularly. However, having the extra data show up when you are searching your bookmarks may be annoying.
You aren't using Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History) ?
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes".
- do not clear the Browsing History
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
[X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox
- clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
- clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
