Using zoom app(Ubuntu)and trying to login and connect to a meeting, Firefox opens up but error "The address wasn’t understood" come. zoomtg related
I moved from chrome to firefox. The zoom meeting does not work. I tried first through the web site (https://zoom.us/) to connect to a meeting. It will never pop up the dialog to ask me and open up zoom.
I downloaded also the zoom app. I start the app and first I tried to lsign in. I click on sign using facebook, then a new window of firefox opens up. The site that tries to connect is (zoommtg://zoom.us/facebook?token=muM7ER9yHmD6ueNhhdFjQKv7lz5L7%2FZ9C2nWw%2FeSevroeFDWx5j6JG5wwmu%2FhEld0RXgcqknbhNqq%2B9PEG4na3Mc3C9VCbute08OO14STh8JLPiAHDLhmog6vZ4uFKru%2FjZ2DjoBdMXbA0rDHV3WhuiPJ0jLJNp517Ate38WD5vuGnoaOayscn3agXceYmNwcAZ6ZBnIIv67k4Ou%2Fy5nkxuyhvJNpDnMZwojeV4T8DNKv%2B8QQUGYB%2Fl2J5ILM825&errorno=0&errormsg=&expire=5130456).
Then it fails, it reports a error: The address wasn’t understood Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (zoommtg) isn’t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address.
I lookeup on the internet about possible solution. But non has worked. Mainly people implied that firefox does not has a protocol for the zoom tag. (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1280803) Indeed also in my case it does not. But like also the the last person noted in the the previous case, also in my case that did not help.
I have Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS, Firefox 74.0 (64bit).
Any idea?

So, for anyone else who might have the same issue. Do not install Firefox through Ubuntu software.
Get the package from Firefox, even if it says it is the same version. I uninstalled the version I had, downloaded, unzip and run the version I got online.
Then restart the computer, set firefox as default browser and then try to start a zoom.
In my case I had the app of zoom installed. I could start a session without logging to zoom account even without doing the next steps.
But to be able to have me loged to my zoom account, I tried to log in using google credentials, then it a pop up window asked to indicate the location of zoom .
Using in a terminal the command "which zoom" I got /usr/bin/zoom which i inserted.
That solved the problem.
Good luck to others. Thank you Dinushi
