Hi,

I have a Yahoo mail account. I'm trying to sign in to this account on Thunderbird, but I can't. I'm getting the error "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." The username and password are correct, as I have just signed in on a browser. But on Thunderbird it's not letting me sign in.

Originally the auto-generated settings gave me the inbound.att.net and outbound.att.net servers. Those weren't working, so I tried using the POP settings here https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN3217.html and that didn't work, so I tried using IMAP settings here https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html . Those didn't work either. I'm stuck.

I have not enabled 2-step verification on this account. I don't know if anything has changed with Yahoo mail, I hardly Yahoo mail anymore and mostly want access to this account so I can access old emails that I might need to access.

Thanks for any help

St it up with the server names for yahoo, not ATT and change the authentication method to oAuth. Not really kosher, but the easiest way. ATT DNS poisoning that they use for the yahoo/ATT switcharoo should take care of the rest.

Pick the yahoo server names out of this link https://autoconfig.thunderbird.net/v1.1/yahoo.com

Awesome thank you so much, that fixed it and my emails for this account are syncing as I type! It took a second to figure out, as I realized that in order for OAuth2 to show up as an option for the Authentication method, I had to type in the server names, port, SSL, etc. and then click the "Re-test" option. After clicking "Re-test", OAuth2 showed up as an option for Authentication method whereas it didn't before. Thanks again.

I have several ATT accounts. I could neither send nor receive on one of the email accounts last week. I called AT&T and they told me that there is a break between Yahoo accounts and older, legacy, ATT accounts. I also used a secure mail key from ATT which initially worked. I was directed to use my normal password thereafter. It worked initially, then failed-- no receive/no sending. I deleted the old secure mail key and used the new one without success. I was on the phone with ATT for over an hour and nothing worked. Since I do have web access with Yahoo, I was told that the fault lies with the email client – – Thunderbird. Presently, I can either send nor receive using inbound/outbound at ATT.

I have several yahoo accounts @bellsouth.net. I can still receive emails from one account (old password) but not the others. I deleted the bad accounts and reinstalled them. Yahoo had changed my password on the bad accounts. The new password (which I have checked via directly with my browser) will not be accepted in Thunderbird. Oauth2 does not work either. I don't want to delete or change my profile file since my gmail account and it's subfolder's works just fine. I suspect the problem is Yahoo but how can I correct it?
