I don't care about "sync". I just want to click on Firefox and browse the web, with my bookmarks kept. How can I do that?

My old Firefox lost the fox icon and gave the "page with crossed sticks" icon. I deleted Firefox, thinking I could just download a new copy. But when I did that, I was confronted with "Sync". I do not want to use Firefox on other devices, just my iMac. I want to click on the Firefox icon on my dock, type in what I want to find out about, and that's that. Instead, I get confronted with all kinds of gobblity-gook about Sync and can't even browse. Help!!!

Hi EinNYC

Adding more devices to Sync is optional and setting up Sync has finished once you see this page for the first time, so simply close this tab.

Note that Sync isn't designed to be used as a backup, but is meant to sync data between other devices, so with only one device connected there is not much merit.

Quote /questions/1300757 Avoiding the sync page when I click on Firefox icon

Thanks for your kind and prompt reply, but I'm still confused. I don't want to see the sync page at all. I simply want to click on the Firefox icon on my dock, see the search box, and fill it in with what I want to find. How can I arrange that? Once I get this straightened out, I will be happy to use some of Firefox's extensions.

Thanks in advance!

You can check the homepage setting like suggested in that thread.

Note that current is Firefox 79.0 and Firefox 80 is about to be released later this week.
