need to recover old emails after host migration
Guys
I had my email set up on Thunderbird and the hosting provider ceased business. So I had to migrate my domain (alanlaighleisphotography.com) from one provider to another.
Instead of creating a new mail account within thunderbird for the new Hosting provider i went in and change the IMAP and SMTP settings of my existing account thinking that my old mails would remain in thunderbird and new ones would just get added it. But thats not what happened. my old emails all vanished, thunderbird basically for want of a better way of putting it "cleared out" the oldstuff and created a vanilla mailbox.
My original hosting provider is now gone, but I have used FTP to backup everything, I've also looked into the "profiles folder" on Win7 and can see mail.vade-1.ie folder (vade are my old provider). this folder contains multiple files including an inbox file. is it possible to recover the old mails somehow using these files?
Thanks

thanks that hasnt worked but It did send me down a path that will work but is long winded
I can Open a Saved Message then use the "Move To" option to basically import from my HDD to the mailbox. Not ideal but its a start.
all my emails that I recovered via FTP are in the following format.

Search and replace the X-Mozilla-Status to 0000 http://kb.mozillazine.org/Undelete_a_message That search and replace you should try it first on a "backup" file (so another copy of the original backup)
