What is the nature of the "Disconnect" agency whose solicitation appears as a tab page from Firefox requesting donations? Please explain who is "Disconnect." From the web address it is not clear what the connection is with Mozilla. What is the difference between donating via the "Disconnect" and donating via the route provided under the "about Firefox" menu item? Presumably "Disconnect" is servicing Mozilla, yet I am wishing that relationship and security to be clarified more convincingly before contributing by that route. Thanks for responses.

Hi, where have you seen the solicitation?

Disconnect is the developer of an extension named Disconnect, and Mozilla uses lists from Disconnect for the Tracking Protection feature. But I haven't seen any donation campaigns myself.

When I signed into my Firefox account on a new computer the first time, the "Disconnect" solicitation page appeared spontaneously as a tab along with a handful of other tabs concerning possible features for the browser. It was a full page, asked for donations up to $100 or more trusting the user's honesty, and could easily be perceived as asking on behalf of Firefox itself or Mozilla. Unfortunately I did not take a snap of it, bit I certainly will if I encounter it again, and would post the window capture here. It sounds like Mozilla might view this "Disconnect" solicitation page as misleading and undesirable.
