Thunderbird crashes/can't connect on Protonmail bridge
I'm not sure if this is a Protonmail bridge problem or a Thunderbird problem. I recently migrated from Windows to Linux Mint 20.03. I installed the Protonmail bridge and then set up my account in Thunderbird. It worked perfectly, began downloading my email.... and then an error message pops up saying "can't connect," and I can't get my email.
According to Protonmail, the solution is to remove the account and all cached data and then add the account again. I've done this three times, but the same error message keeps coming up and this last time Thunderbird crashed after I had spent hours cleaning up my email - and when I added the account again, all the old email was still there, since it hadn't had a change to clear it from Protonmail!
So - any ideas? Is this a Thunderbird problem? Any idea how to fix it?
Thank you in advance.

I see a lot of people here with issues with the proton mail bridge. You the first on Linux I have seen, but that might be more about the small number of users on Linux than it being any more reliable than the window version.
The biggest issue I see with the bridge is it uses the network loopback address to essentially run a local mail server instance. That is fine if nothing else uses the loopback address, but most Linux networked software does to some extent, including Thunderbird.
My guess is it is a bridge issue, but if the program is crashing you should have crash reports submitted that we can look at to determine what caused the crash, or file a bug. So what are the report ID's that have been submitted.
See for details on getting the report ID's https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-crash-reports
Thank you! I’ll work on it and follow-up.
No crash reports. It isn’t crashing, though, it can’t connect after the first time it does following account set up. I’m going back to ProtonMail to see if they can fix it.
Thanks again.
