When I run Firefox I find that the "plugin-container.exe *32" is a drain on resources for my computer. Is there a way to disable this? I understand that its purpose is to help if Firefox crashes but because my Firefox hardly ever crashes I just feel it's a drain on my system resources (11,820K of RAM).

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== Firefox was updated to 3.6.6

Other Issues: You have installed plug-ins with known security issues. You should update them immediately.

Update Java: your ver. 1.6.0.17; current ver. 1.6.0.20 (important security update 04-15-2010)
(Firefox 3.6 and above requires Java 1.6.0.10 or higher; see: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Java-related+issues#Java_does_not_work_in_Firefox_3_6 )
(Windows users: Do the manual update; very easy.)

Maybe someone can explain something to me. Why does anyone need to open multiple video tabs at the same time? How do you watch/listen to multiple videos at the same time?

Mine does the same thing. Fine every where but facebook apps. Can anyone tell me why we even need "plugin-container exe"? My computer was running fine before the container was installed with an update. Now It takes forever to load some applications. If I close the container, I get a flash crash message.

Please help!!!! What can I do?

Earthgal, if you do not want to use plugin-container.exe see the post by TXGuy, it contains links that show how to disable it. Alternatively see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins

I tamed "plugin-container.exe" ( ff 3.6.8, XP home edition, Java 6 update 21)

i 'unchecked' the 'default java for browsers--- microsoft internet explorer', wich u can find in your 'configuration screen' ... 'Java' ... 'java control panel'... 'advanced'.... ( i guess Microsoft doesn't want to 'get along' with Mozilla)

I've been using firefox for 3 years, despite us benchmarking it as slower to other browsers, I still sticked to it. But that has all changed when I encountered this problem. I'm over with firefox.

I'm using chrome as I write this post.

I would rather have my browser crash and have to restart than use Plugin-container.exe. Whenever I watch a video on ESPN or MSNBC it sounds like the fan in my computer is going to fly out and kill me because the program is taking up 118k of ram.......I love Mozilla Firefox but I hate plugin-container.exe with a vengeance, I feel like it is taking years off my computer.

Something was making this weird beeping sound on my computer and I was on the verge of losing my mind over it. I started closing programs, browser windows, etc to try to locate where the beeping sounds were coming from. Then I looked in task manager and saw two instances of plugin-container.exe 32 and one was taking a lot of memory. So I terminated that one from the task manager and immediately the sound stopped. Whew! What a relief! So if anyone is having that problem and doesn't want to take the time to read all the complicated explanations on how to disable it, this is the quick and dirty way to disable it (at least until the next time it loads). Ah, silence and peace at last!
