The "clear data feature" appeared sometime before, I think when I installed the latest version of fox fire. When I turned on my computer today it popped up first before I could connect to fox fire. When I checked to clear data it opened fox fire and then immediately shut in down. So I cannot connect to the internet. How can I resolve this problem and connect to the internet?

You can get that window when starting Firefox if you use Clear Recent History on closing Firefox and the recent history wasn't cleared because Firefox crashed or otherwise didn't close properly.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_crashes and Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)

Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak and any existing files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js in the Firefox Profile Folder

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore
