Just switched from IE, imported my favorites okay, but Firefox won't let me put new bookmarks in the folders. When I select "choose", it shoes no folders. Why?
Firefox doesn't seem to recognize the favorites folders I imported from IE. I can't save a bookmark in any folder I already had when I changed to FF. When I select "choose", my only choices are Bookmark Toolbar, Bookmark Menu or Unsorted Bookmarks. I badly need to put bookmarks in my imported folders.

All bookmarks are in one of those 3 main folders. The bookmarks and folders that were imported from IE should be in the Bookmarks Menu folder.
There should be two different "down arrow" buttons to the right of the folder name (the appearance differs by operating system - IMO it's the best on WinXP), the left one allows you to select one of those 3 main folders, and the one on the right allows you to see the folders in the main folder that is selected.
A silly interface, IMO, but it's been that way through 3 major version releases, so it has been consistent in it's lack intuitiveness.
You might want to look at the Add Bookmark Here ² extension - that type of "Add Bookmark" window should have been the default in Firefox 3.o and newer versions:

Thank you for the reply. There is no combination of arrows or folders that will even list my IE favorites after a page has been selected. When I use the right arrow I get Bookmark Toolbar, Bookmark Menu or Unsorted Bookmarks, and they are all empty. This is more aggravating every hour...
