How may I change the thumbnail size in the "browse file" (local file) dialog?

When attempting to browse for a local file (in this case, from a web page), Firefox seems to ignore all of the Finder features. There's no right click menu, no way to change view options (by right clicking empty space within the window, as in Finder), and no zoom slider in the lower right. There seems to be absolutely no way to change this behavior.

Is there a way to force Firefox to use Finder dialogs rather than its own, very limited, and useless (in thumbnail mode) dialog?

Maybe flip the ui.allow_platform_file_picker pref to true if it is currently false.
