Recently I've had an issue since the FF15 update when going to any site the FF tab constantly says 'Connecting...' and doesn't change to the site name although everything works as it should otherwise. After reading some stuff on here users were going on about an addon called TabRenamizer which seemed to cause the problem. The only problem was I don't have that installed so I disabled my addons one by one and it turned out to be FoxLingo that was causing the issue. I disabled it and hey presto I'm back to normal!! Also the browser speed has increased since removing FoxLingo. I have contacted the author but, as yet, received no reply.

So, what's your question exactly?

Apart from the fact that I fixed the problem by removing FoxLingo (and other users have fixed the same problem removing TabRenamizer) why does FF allow apps to be added to their list of apps that cause problems. Surely such apps are thoroughly tested before they are released for public consumption? I work on the support team of phpBB.com and we don't allow any apps or MODs to go in to our MODs database release until they have been vetted and approved although they would be available marked as [DEV] or [RC] but they certainly wouldn't be released as being approved. Searching the internet I see it's not only FoxLingo and TabRenamizer that give problems there are plenty of different add ons causing problems.

As far as I'm concerned this is a serious issue and less computer savvy people could be turned away from FF because of such issues.

I'm sorry, but you cannot compare phpBB community and 500 mods available to Mozilla, global community with thousands of addons and tens of thousands of people contributing on many platforms :) Don't get me wrong, phpBB is recognized and valued, but volume of this two projects is of huge difference and even though you go through testing, you still have over 500 bugs reported. It's unavoidable. Take any project, any software there will always be issues.

Cheers.

Well maybe FF shouldn't be too eager to add add ons to your list. If your not testing then you could quite easily add something with a serious security issue. Anyway, Foxlingo has a problem so now you know.

I have the same problem and it seems to be caused by addon "Adblock Plus", but only on web sites with matching ad filters.
