Why are the text and logos on tabs misaligning on new firefox windows?

When a new firefox window is first opened, the text on the tab (e.g Mozilla Firefox Start Page) and the logo to the left of it becomes misaligned, almost like the text has been 'cut in half' vertically and not placed back together accurately. The fullscreen button and the 'open a new tab' button overlap too on the top right hand side.

To get into fullscreen mode, cmd+ctrl+F have to be pressed twice. Once to get the browser back to 'normal' the way the tabs should look, with the tab texts and logo normal, and second time gets it into full screen.

This happens everytime a new window is opened. Only happens once per window.

I have attached a link to an image here via photobucket so you can see what it looks like - http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a533/RGomes11/ScreenShot2013-05-14at215321_zps5b08b7ed.png

Thankyou for your help!

You can try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)

You can also check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

In case this is the result of a new graphics card driver incompatibility, could you try disabling Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration? You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved (or at least improved)?

Regarding "full screen," this may be different on Windows and Mac, but on Windows there are two different ways to expand the Firefox window to full height and width: maximizing the window, which leaves the system and Firefox toolbars visible, and "full screen mode" (using the View menu or F11 function key) which expands the page content to fill the screen. Are you having problems with both of those, or just one of those?

Thanks jscher2000,

The issue has improved. Now the tabs text and logos are perfect.

Most of the time, it now starts perfectly. Occasionally, it doesn't and I can't work out what's causing it!

Sometimes, the first tab sits behind the mac's version of 'close window', 'minimize' etc (top left of screen), which is slightly too high. This causes fullscreen mode to still have to be pressed twice. The text and logos on the tab still remain perfect.

On my mac, F11 relates to sound. The only way to get fullscreen mode is through the button on the top right of the browser, or by using ctrl+cmd+f.

I'll take a screenshot when it next does it, then share it here so you can see.

Thankyou for all your suggestions. Seems to be working well now, haven't had the problem since removing the plist file.

Thankyou!
