Today there was a firefox update that has enlarged all my toolbar icons unnecessarily: how can I undo this?

I have limited screen space, and use Nav Bar on Title Bar, and small icons, to reduce clutter as much as possible. Today there was a Firefox update, which seems to have increased the size of all icons, so that my 'small' icons are nearly as big as the normal sized ones used to be; thus both wasting vertical space and reducing the number of buttons I can get on a toolbar, and the amount of a URL that will fit in the address box. How can I restore all icons back to their original sizes?

Aha! It's OK I found it: never occurred to me to just type in the address bar!

Icons back to normal size now :-) Text has gone a bit small but I think I can play with that.

Thanks once again.

Apparently there was a change for Windows Firefox that changed how the layout works. It copies the resolution for the operating system instead of using its own. This setting in about:config controls it.

layout.css.devPixelsPerPx = -1.0 in my setup, and it works in Mac OS, but apparently not in Windows, so has to be changed to a positive number

There is another setting that controls the resolution and makes it 96 d.p.i. or greater if it is negative.

layout.css.dpi = -1

Thanks finitary and cor-el:

This is probably the answer I am looking for but I'm new to configuring Firefox and I can't for the life of me find where these config settings are located. How do I get at "about:config layout.css.devPixelsPerPx" ?

Many thanks for your prompt advice (y)
