If this is about extensions in Firefox then this doesn't affect the working of the main components of the security software, but only the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that they add to Firefox needs an update.

Hello,

This doesn't sound like something that Firefox would do. Please reply with what OS you are running.

Thanks,

Curtis

You did not successfully follow the prompts to include troubleshooting information. That may have helped, although apparently you are posting from a Windows Vista machine.

If you use Anti Virus software it needs to be kept fully updated for two reasons

  1. Compatability with Firefox Releases (You may well be updating to Firefox 24 now)
  2. To keep it effective and download the latest malware definitions

I hope you are not trying to use three separate sets of Security and AV software simultaneously on Firefox, that sounds likely to result in conflicts and problems. It is probably also unnecessarily expensive.

Are you using (standard desktop) Firefox on Vista ?

  • if so maybe consider free MS AV software
  • or are you using Firefox OS (Maybe the question is inadvertently tagged with Firefox OS; it is a new almost experimental Operating System)

kaspersky extensions disabled in Firefox 26.0, keep having to rollback to V 25.0 and it keeps updating to 26.0. Yes I have checked the advanced options telling it to NEVER check for updates and it STILL updates. These extensions are added extra security for a program I pay for, either please sort a patch for this or I will have to use either IE or G Chrome.

The extensions probably have little value what do they actually do ?

The main Kaspersky security will still be working, at least it will be IF you keep it up to date, otherwise that will be ineffective.

  • You are wrong to downgrade Firefox because that is then insecure and not supported.
  • What you should do is update all your security software including the Kaspersky extensons; if you wish to use them.

P.S. Firefox will soon be updating to Firefox 27 . That will almost certainly require updating of your security software yet again.

Looks like Google Chrome instead of an incompatable browser

It is not Firefox that is incompatible ;)

edit: spellcheck.

Will not necessarily help. If you fail to keep the Kaspersky software up to date; even the essential & paid for Anti Virus protection is ineffective, and yes if you are not using a secure and supported version of Firefox you are better using another Browser that is up to date.

You may note Microsoft offers AV protection free of charge.

In fact although you pay for the Kaspersky software, it appears the Kaspersky addons are considered optional extras, and are not necessarily updated to keep up with Firefox, despite the 6 weeks Firefox beta

As I asked initially.

  • What are the addons ?
    • and their function?
    • Do they do anything Firefox or other free software does not also do ?
  • Note also Firefox does at least offer a master password for stored login passwords. With Google Chrome the passwords are available as plain text to anyone using the browser.
