Why do bookmarks open in a side window?
When I click on one of my bookmarks, it opens in a three inch wide window on the left side of the screen instead of in a normal web page. The only way to avoid this is to type the url in at the top of the screen, which pretty much defeats the purpose of having bookmarks. Any suggestions?
BTW I'm still running XP and that may be a contributing factor.

Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website. You can check the properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac). In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right. Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.

- open bookmark manager (ctrl+shift+B)
- click to select the problematic bookmark
- goto bottom of bookmark manager window, click button "more"
