When you updated java did you get an option to download Yahoo as your homepage?

Try a new profile Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles or a refresh as well as making sure your plugins are up to date: Please update your plugins to the latest version. Check to make sure you are up to date:

If you see any issues also see:

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

I suspect you got some malware from a recent software install. Does the bottom of the unwanted Yahoo page have a "Learn More" link? That would be characteristic of Spigot add-ons showing up on many Macs these days.

Firefox's Refresh feature (see previous reply) will remove your current extensions, but you might also want to scrub down your whole system to remove anything related to Spigot.

If you prefer to clean up your add-ons by hand, you can open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Command+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions. Bear in mind that all extensions are optional; none ship with Firefox.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
