Why, when creating a new Folder in Bookmarks, does FF Auto-Name each of them "New Folder"?
Invariably when I select "New Folder" button while at existing Bookmark Folder, FF creates a New Folder (OK so far) --- but, instead of providing an active box to Name that new folder, it Auto-Names it "New Folder" & drops URL into it.
Can't think of ANY reason folks would want their Bookmarks populated with Folders [rather pointlessly] Auto-named "New Folder"
What am I missing here? (Besides an opportunity to create a meaningful name for newly created Folders)
Appreciate any helpful guidance.

I have never had that happen. When I create a new folder the "focus" is in the new folder with that "title" highlighted to alert me to add the name I want for that new folder. Maybe you have an add-on or customization installed that disrupted the default action?
See what happens in the Firefox SafeMode.
