As of about 1600 hours BST computer infected with popups and crashing when accessing national papers., Mail, Express, Telegraph. Internet Explorer and Google Chrome not affected on the same computer. An Adblocker is installed but has no effect when uninstalled and then reinstalled. I can't get to the infected file as the computer freezes and a reboot is needed

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any improvement? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)
Hell... got bombarded with popups and ads.......looks like a worm as other sites are now infected. Run a scan but nothing found using ESET nod 32 all comes back clear. Computer running ok and comes back clean when not on internet. The only search I can now do is in my toolbox for a large hammer.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Had a good look at the problem and isolated it to good old Unchecky that had installed via another programme. Downloaded Malwarebytes as my malware detector failed to find it and Hey presto popups gone and computer save from a Damn good thrashing with a lump hammer. Thanks again for your help.
Glad to help. Safe Surfing.
