I have "N" version of Windows 8.1. I am aware of it's media limitations. I don't want to install MS Media Feature Pack. I don't want to see this message displayed over and over again: "To improve video quality, you may need to install Microsoft’s Media Feature Pack". I would appreciate if somebody told me how to get rid of this message.

Hi   !
It would probably be best if you posted this question here:
answers.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/forum/windows_10
(also for   Windows 8.1)
Good luck   !

Thanks for quick answer, however it's not helpful. The message has nothing to do with Windows - it is displayed by Firefox. I think I described clearly: I have N version of Windows, it lacks some media features and I don't want Firefox to constantly remind me that. I have attached a screenshot of the message.

Installing the Media Pack s the obvious solution. Just wondering what reasons you have against doing that.

What media are you using when you see these errors can you give an example of a public site/stream where you see this please ?

I will try to find out more about the info bar or error message and try to see how it can be turned off.

Thank you for your time. It seems that setting the value of the pref "media.decoder-doctor.notifications-allowed" to "none" solved my problem. So far the browser seems to be working OK and no pop up is shown. Once again - thank you.

The example site where pop-up was displayed is Twitter.

Regarding the Media Pack installation - it's just my choice, I try to limit the amount of crap installed on my machine. I don't want Windows Media Player with it's ability "to play DRM content" (I am happy with VLC) and other useless for me apps that come with this pack. I have also removed Silverlight and I am completely fine.

Firefox itself tries to give you the ability to play DRM content, I must admit it is not something I usually need. Thanks for posting back and marking the solution.
