I was struggling to remove attachments from RSS feed items. At this moment, I can remove attachments from email messages from context menu (right click in the attachment bar and delete), but this does not work for RSS - the delete option is grayed. Is there a way to delete attachments so they are not stored on the disk?

RSS feeds are generally local copies of HTML pages and the attachments you see are the graphics on those pages, Just as you can not delete the graphics from a page in Firefox you can not remove the graphics in these files.

While they may be in the cache, I doubt the image attachments are actually stored locally at all. Right clicking and selecting copy link location provides a web URL for the attachments, not a local mbox link and an examination of the MBOX file does not include any image data, only remote URL's for the fetching of images.
