My sent messages don't look like the original (i.e. no font change, indents, etc.)

I often generate emails using the many tools Thunderbird has to offer - different size fonts, bolded text, paragraph or line indents, etc. but my sent messages don't look anything like what I generated and emailed. How can I make the sent messages look like the original?

One other thing to check. In the traditional menu, make sure "View|Message Body As" is set to "Original HTML".

I wonder if your messages are being downgraded to plain text.

How and where do you view your sent messages to be able to see this altered version?

Would you like to send me an example of a message? I'd be interested to see if your messages are sent with embedded decorations.

Each of your contacts will have a setting for "Prefers to receive messages formatted as" with a choice of plain, html or unknown. Such a setting might be demoting your carefully marked-up text to plain text.

Moreover, under Tools|Options|Composition|General|Send Options there are further choices for defaults per domain, or to downgrade to plain text whenever possible.
