I can't send emails or receive emails. It used to work, but now it doesn't and I don't know what to do
I have an email account with Thunderbird. It was working great for a year and then I just recently tried to set-up a gmail account on Thunderbird so that I can sync thunderbird with my iPhone. When I set-up the gmail account on thunderbird, it transferred over thousands of emails, but I still was not able to synch my iPhone with my email in Thunderbird. The worst part is, once I put gmail onto my thunderbird account, I was not able to send emails anymore or received emails anymore. So I deleted the gmail account from thunderbird, because I though that was the reason I wasn't receiving any emails. Even though I deleted the gmail account, I still can't send or receive email as each time I try it says that connection to server is timed out.
I have no clue how to fix this problem. I am pretty sure that when I synched the gmail account to thunderbird that messed up the settings for my original email account. I want to know how to fix this problem as I have tried deleting my password, I really don't know what to do. I wish someone could walk me through this over the telephone. Do you I need to start up a new account? I have been trying everything and this is a very important email account for me. It's company's account so I am desperate to have this email address work. Please let me know what I need to do. It would be great if I could talk with someone over the telephone about this. Thanks

Who is the provider of the other email account (non-gmail)? Are you able to get server settings from them to input into Thunderbird?
You will need to go to Thunderbird > Tools > Account settings. Here you will see your email address listed down the left-hand side. Go to server settings and check all of these settings.
You will also need to check the outgoing server section at the bottom.
I have done all of that stuff. I even deleted my password and hoped that i can use a new password, but when I log back on it doesn't give me an option to use a new password. I have all of the server settings from my employer and have plugged them in, but it still does not work. I am really not sure what to do. I really need this problem resolved as it's an important email account. Is there someone who can walk me through this by phone. Would it make sense to delete everything and start it back up fresh? Is there an option to do that?
My only other suggestion is my one size fits all response, which is get mozbackup, backup only the most essential stuff using the checkboxes and then import it into a new TB profile. It'll probably bring all the stuff you need and delete all the stuff which is broken.
Is there a link where I can download or get Mozbackup?
what is the actual error message you get when you try and send a message.
There is little point discussing anything without knowing what the actual error is.
As for mozbackup, Use it at your own risk. It is not a Mozilla product, it appears to be largely unsupported and ceased development in 2012 or there abouts. It's author says.
MozBackup is not being developed anymore. There are known issues and there is no time on my side to fix all issues and develop new features. Use MozBackup only on your risk.

This is what it says when I try to send a message -"Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) host.ericedmeades.com timed out. Try again."
I am also not able to receive messages.
I am not able to download from the links you guys sent me for Mozilla Back-up. I am completely perplexed about what to do right now.
You just need to click on the link from sourceforge that says install program.
I tried again and it says that it's not applicable to macOS. I have a Mac and not Windows
"Where is a Linux or Mac OS X version? Sorry, no versions for Linux and Mac OS X. I don't have plans for doing these versions."
But as Matt says we really need more information about the problem and setup. I had no idea you were on Mac and I've never bothered with Macs myself.
The only other similar software I know of is TEBE which is an addon for Thunderbird (so fairly platform agnostic) but again that is out of development now: http://softwarebychuck.com/tebe/

So the email account was set-up with Thunderbird last year. It work fine until last week I tried to connect Thunderbird to my phone through gmail. I was able to do this and so all of my gmail emails were transferred over to my thunderbird account. When I did this, then all of sudden my work email account with thunderbird did not work. I was not able to send or receive emails. I thought that synching gmail with thunderbird was the reason for my email account not working. So I cancelled my gmail account on thunderbird in hopes of being able to send and receive emails like it has worked for the past year.
That obviously did not work. So I checked if I had the right set-up for the incoming server and outgoing server from the account settings and everything looks good like it did before. I also read on the forums that I should delete my password and then when I open up Thunderbird again it will automatically ask me for a new password. When I did log on it did not ask me for a password. That did not work at all.
I am on a Mac Computer. This is the message I get when I try to send an email - "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) host.ericedmeades.com timed out. Try again."
It also says "Thunderbird - Connection to server has timed out"
So I just looked up the error and found this url: https://www.lifewire.com/repair-folders-thunderbird-1173102
It says to use the repair option for each of your folders. I have no idea if this will work because I've never done it before.
Anyway read the article in full and follow any instructions and see if that helps.
I too cannot open my emails I get these errors:
The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server pop3.telkomsa.net responded: No such blob: mailbox=359506, item=235221, change=1233645
Can anyone help me please Raymond
